Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the glutinous rice flour, sugar, and water. Stir until a smooth dough forms.

  2. 2

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a clean surface and knead for about 5 minutes until it becomes elastic and smooth.

Filling

  1. 3

    Prepare the Filling

Take the lotus seed paste and divide it into small balls, about 1 tablespoon each. Set aside.

Forming the Balls

  1. 4

    Shape the Dough

Take a small piece of dough (about the size of a golf ball), flatten it in your palm, and place a ball of lotus seed paste in the center.

  2. 5

    Seal the Ball

Wrap the dough around the filling, pinching it closed to form a smooth ball. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.

Coating and Frying

  1. 6

    Coat with Sesame Seeds

Roll each ball in sesame seeds until completely coated.

  2. 7

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until hot.

  3. 8

    Fry the Balls

Carefully add the sesame-coated balls to the hot oil, frying in batches. Fry until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes.

  4. 9

    Drain Excess Oil

Remove the fried sesame seed balls with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
