Method
Prepare Tea

Boil the Water
In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil over high heat.

Steep the Tea
Once the water is boiling, remove it from heat and add the 4 black tea bags. Let them steep for about 5 minutes, or until the desired strength is reached.

Remove Tea Bags
After steeping, carefully remove the tea bags from the saucepan and discard them.
Sweetening the Tea

Add Sugar
While the tea is still hot, add 1 cup of granulated sugar. Stir continuously until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Chill and Serve

Cool the Tea
Allow the sweetened tea to cool to room temperature.

Refrigerate
Once cooled, transfer the tea to a pitcher and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or until chilled.

Serve
Serve the sweet tea over ice, garnished with fresh mint leaves and lemon slices if desired.
