Chicken Strips
Ranch Dressing
Method
Preparing the Chicken Strips
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk and chicken breasts. Ensure the chicken is fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for best results).
- 2
Prepare the Breading
In a separate bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large heavy-bottomed pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Bread the Chicken
Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator. Take each chicken breast, allowing excess buttermilk to drip off, and dredge in the flour mixture, ensuring it's evenly coated.
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the coated chicken strips into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- 6
Drain
Remove the fried chicken strips and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Making the Ranch Dressing
- 7
Combine Ingredients
In a medium bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth and creamy.
- 8
Chill
Cover and refrigerate the ranch dressing for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
