Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Wash and Prepare Greens

Thoroughly wash the collard greens, mustard greens, and kale under running water. Remove the tough stems and chop the greens into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

    Chop Onion and Garlic

Peel and finely chop the onion. Peel and mince the garlic cloves.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sauté Aromatics

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until softened and translucent, about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Add Garlic

Add the minced garlic to the pot and sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. 5

    Cooking Greens

Add the chopped collard greens, mustard greens, and kale to the pot. Stir well to combine with the onion and garlic.

  4. 6

    Add Broth and Flavorings

Pour in the vegetable broth and add the apple cider vinegar, sugar, and red pepper flakes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  5. 7

    Bring to a Simmer

Increase the heat to bring the mixture to a simmer. Once simmering, reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.

  6. 8

    Braised to Perfection

Let the greens braise for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are tender and flavorful.
