Method

Preparing the Ribs

  1. 1

    Season the Ribs

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs and pat them dry with paper towels. In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub this seasoning mix all over the ribs, ensuring they're well coated.

  2. 2

    Bake the Ribs

Place the seasoned ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil, meat side up. Cover the ribs with another piece of foil and bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, until they are tender.

Making the BBQ Sauce

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, mustard powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

  2. 4

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Let it cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens.

Finishing the Ribs

  1. 5

    Glaze and Broil

Once the ribs are tender, remove them from the oven. Preheat your broiler. Brush a generous amount of the BBQ sauce over the ribs. Place the ribs under the broiler for about 5-7 minutes, until the sauce is caramelized and bubbly.

  2. 6

    Serve

Remove the ribs from the broiler. Let them rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with additional BBQ sauce on the side.
