Pork Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Pork
Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder and cut it into large chunks for easier cooking.
- 2
Make the Rub
In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Mix well to create a spice rub.
- 3
Apply the Rub
Rub the spice mixture generously over all sides of the pork shoulder chunks. Make sure to coat evenly.
- 4
Cook the Pork
Place the seasoned pork into a slow cooker. Add apple cider vinegar and water into the slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the pork is tender and shreds easily.

- 5
Shred the Pork
Once the pork is done, remove it from the slow cooker and let it rest for a few minutes. Then, using two forks, shred the pork into bite-sized pieces.
- 6
Mix with BBQ Sauce
In a large bowl, combine the shredded pork with BBQ sauce. Stir until the pork is evenly coated.
- 7
Assemble the Sandwich
Spoon the pulled pork mixture onto the bottom half of each hamburger bun. Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
