Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the dill pickle slices and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This will help the breading stick better.
- 2
Prepare the Breading Mixture
In a medium bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until evenly combined.
- 3
Breading and Frying
- 4
Bread the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice into the egg wash, allowing any excess to drip off, then coat it in the breading mixture, pressing lightly to adhere the breading.
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.
- 6
Fry the Pickles
Carefully place the breaded pickle slices into the hot oil in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- 7
Drain and Serve
Once fried, remove the pickles from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with ranch dressing for dipping.
