Method
Preparing the Chicken Strips
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Whisk together until well mixed. Add the boneless chicken breasts, making sure they are fully submerged in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In a separate bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir until combined.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to check the temperature.
- 4
Coat the Chicken
Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator. Take each piece of chicken out of the buttermilk marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to coat. Shake off any excess flour.
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the coated chicken strips in the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- 6
Drain
Once cooked, remove the chicken strips from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Making the Ranch Dressing
- 7
Combine Ingredients
In a medium bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, garlic powder, dried dill, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- 8
Chill the Dressing
Cover the ranch dressing and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld together.
Serving
- 9
Serve and Enjoy
Serve the crispy boneless buttermilk fried chicken strips hot, alongside the chilled ranch dressing for dipping. Enjoy your meal!
