Method
Preparation of Lemonade Base
- 1
Juicing the Lemons
Roll the lemons on a countertop to soften them. Cut each lemon in half and juice them into a measuring cup until you have about 1 cup of fresh lemon juice.
- 2
Making the Simple Syrup
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat while stirring until the sugar completely dissolves. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- 3
Mixing the Base
In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, 3 cups of cold water, and the cooled simple syrup. Stir well to combine.
Adding Flavor Enhancements
- 4
Infusing Mint
Add 1 cup of fresh mint leaves to the lemonade mixture. Stir gently and let it sit for at least 30 minutes to infuse the mint flavor.
- 5
Adding Berries
Mash 1 cup of fresh berries in a small bowl to release their juices. Add the mashed berries to the lemonade and stir well to combine.
- 6
Incorporating Lemon Zest
Add 1 teaspoon of lemon zest to the pitcher for an extra burst of lemon flavor and stir well.
