Pork and Toppings

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Slow Roast the Pork Butt

Preheat your oven to 225°F (107°C). In a bowl, mix salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and brown sugar. Rub this mixture all over the pork butt. Place the pork in a roasting pan and pour apple cider vinegar over it. Cover the pan with foil and roast for about 8 hours, or until the meat is tender and pulls apart easily.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Fried Green Tomatoes

Slice the green tomatoes into 1/4 inch thick slices. Dredge each slice in buttermilk, then coat with cornmeal. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the tomato slices until golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels.

  3. 3

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove from the pan and drain on paper towels.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Sounder

Once the pork is cooked, shred it using two forks. On each toasted bun, layer the shredded pork, bacon, fried green tomatoes, and drizzle with MS white BBQ sauce. Serve immediately.
