Shrimp Etouffee

Method

Shrimp Etouffee Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Roux

In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Gradually whisk in the flour and stir continuously for about 15-20 minutes, until the roux is a deep brown color.

  2. 2

    Sauté Vegetables

Add the onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic to the roux. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, until the vegetables are softened.

  3. 3

    Add Broth and Seasoning

Gradually add the chicken broth while stirring. Then add the cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer.

  4. 4

    Cook the Shrimp

Add the shrimp and cook for about 5 minutes, until they are pink and cooked through. Stir in the green onions and parsley.
