Churro Dough

Cinnamon Sugar

Method

Prepare the Churro Dough

  1. 1

    Boil the Water Mixture

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once the mixture is boiling, remove it from heat. Add 1 cup of all-purpose flour to the saucepan and stir until the dough forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Allow the dough to cool for a few minutes. Then, add the 2 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition until fully combined and smooth.

Prepare Cinnamon Sugar

  1. 4

    Mix Cinnamon Sugar

In a small bowl, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon. Set aside.

Fry the Churros

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep pot, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Pipe the Dough

Transfer the churro dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Once the oil is hot, carefully pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough into the hot oil.

  3. 7

    Fry Until Golden

Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  4. 8

    Coat with Cinnamon Sugar

While the churros are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
