Method

Churro Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine water, unsalted butter, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Stir until the butter melts and the mixture comes to a gentle boil.

  2. 2

    Add Dry Ingredients

Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in the all-purpose flour and salt until a dough forms. Let it cool for about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy. Stir in the ground cinnamon.

Frying the Churros

  1. 4

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Pipe the Dough

Transfer the churro dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Carefully pipe 4-6 inch long strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them with scissors.

  3. 6

    Fry Until Golden

Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown. Remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.

Sugar Coating

  1. 7

    Mix Sugar and Cinnamon

In a shallow dish, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.

  2. 8

    Coat the Churros

While the churros are still warm, roll them in the sugar-cinnamon mixture until well coated.

Chocolate Drizzle Preparation

  1. 9

    Melt Chocolate

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and heavy cream. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.

  2. 10

    Drizzle on Churros

Using a spoon or a piping bag, drizzle the melted chocolate over the coated churros before serving.
