Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Marinate the Steak

In a bowl, mix olive oil, balsamic vinegar, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Marinate the flank steak in this mixture for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Caramelize the Onions

Slice the onion thinly. In a skillet over medium heat, add a tablespoon of olive oil and the sliced onion. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are golden brown and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Heat a grill or skillet over high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness is reached. Let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Panini

Slice the ciabatta rolls in half. Layer the bottom half with provolone cheese, sliced steak, caramelized onions, sliced tomato, and fresh basil. Top with the other half of the roll.

  5. 5

    Grill the Panini

Heat a panini press or skillet over medium heat. Grill the sandwich for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted.
