Cooking Instructions
Prepare the Slaw
In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, grated carrot, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Prepare the Fries
Peel and cut the potatoes into thick fries. Rinse them in cold water to remove excess starch, then pat dry. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pot or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry the potatoes in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels. Season with salt to taste.
Make the Beer Batter
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add the beer and mix until smooth and slightly thickened.
Fry the Fish
Dip the fish fillets into the beer batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered fish into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-6 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Serve
Plate the fish and chips together with a generous serving of slaw on the side. Enjoy your homemade fish and chips!
