Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Muddle the Sugar

In an old-fashioned glass, place the sugar cube and add the Angostura bitters on top. Add 1 teaspoon of water to help dissolve the sugar.

  2. 2

    Dissolve the Sugar

Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently muddle the sugar cube and bitters together until the sugar is dissolved.

  3. 3

    Add Bourbon

Pour 2 ounces of bourbon into the glass over the muddled sugar and bitters.

  4. 4

    Add Ice

Add a large ice cube or several smaller ice cubes to the glass, allowing the bourbon to chill.

  5. 5

    Garnish

Express the oils of the orange peel over the drink by gently twisting it, then drop it into the glass. Finish with a maraschino cherry on top.

  6. 6

    Serve

Stir gently to combine the ingredients. Serve immediately and enjoy your Old Fashioned.
