Method

Preparation of Bread

  1. 1

    Slice the Baguette

Using a serrated knife, slice the baguette into 1/2 inch thick slices.

  2. 2

    Toast the Bread

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides with olive oil. Toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown, flipping halfway through.

Preparation of Topping

  1. 3

    Prepare the Tomatoes

Dice the ripe tomatoes and place them in a mixing bowl.

  2. 4

    Add the Basil

Chop the fresh basil leaves and add them to the bowl with the diced tomatoes.

  3. 5

    Mince the Garlic

Peel and mince the garlic cloves, then add them to the bowl with the tomatoes and basil.

  4. 6

    Season the Mixture

Add balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Gently mix all the ingredients together until well combined.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Top the Toasts

Once the bread is toasted, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly. Spoon the tomato and basil mixture generously over each slice of toasted bread.

  2. 8

    Serve

Serve the bruschetta immediately while the bread is still warm, garnished with additional basil if desired.
