Sandwich Assembly

Method

Pulled Pork

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

Rub the pork shoulder with smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.

  2. 2

    Slow Roast the Pork

Place the seasoned pork shoulder into a slow cooker. Add apple cider vinegar and water. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

  3. 3

    Shred the Pork

Remove the pork from the slow cooker and let it rest for about 15 minutes. Use two forks to shred the pork into bite-sized pieces.

BBQ Sauce

  1. 4

    Make the BBQ Sauce

In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and simmer over medium heat for about 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

  2. 5

    Combine Pork and Sauce

Add the shredded pork to the BBQ sauce in the saucepan. Mix well to ensure the pork is fully coated with the sauce. Heat through for about 5 minutes.

Sandwich Assembly

  1. 6

    Prepare the Rolls

Lightly toast the onion rolls until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Assemble the Sandwich

Generously pile the BBQ pulled pork mixture onto the bottom half of each onion roll. Top with pickles and coleslaw if desired. Place the top half of the roll over the filling and serve immediately.
