Ingredients
Main Ingredients
Preparation
1. Combine Ingredients
In a large pot, combine 4 cups of filtered water and 1 cup of sugar. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved.
2. Add Flavorings
Once the sugar has dissolved, add the sassafras extract, vanilla extract, caramel color, natural flavors, citric acid, and baking soda to the pot. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
3. Cool the Mixture
Remove the pot from heat and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
4. Carbonate the Soda
Once the mixture has cooled, slowly mix in 4 cups of carbonated water. Stir gently to avoid losing carbonation.
5. Bottle the Soda
Pour the soda into clean, sterilized bottles, leaving some space at the top. Seal the bottles tightly.
6. Chill and Serve
Refrigerate the bottles for at least 2 hours before serving. Enjoy your homemade root beer!
