Method

Crust Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water (about 110°F/43°C) with the active dry yeast and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the olive oil and the activated yeast mixture.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

Assembling the Pizza

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.

  2. 6

    Roll Out Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it out into a 12-inch circle, about 1/8-inch thick.

  3. 7

    Add Sauce

Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a pizza peel or a baking sheet. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the surface, leaving a small border around the edges.

  4. 8

    Add Cheese

Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese generously over the sauce, ensuring even coverage.

  5. 9

    Bake Pizza

Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

  6. 10

    Slice and Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then slice it into wedges and serve hot.
