Prepare the Burger Patty

Mix the Patty Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined; avoid overworking the meat.

Form the Patty
Shape the mixture into one large patty, about 1/2 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of the patty to help it cook evenly.

Add Toppings
After flipping, place the smoked ham slices on top of the patty. Cook for another 2 minutes, then add the cheddar cheese slice. Cover with a lid to help melt the cheese.

Check for Doneness
Cook until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C) for medium doneness, about 2-3 more minutes.
Assemble the Burger

Prepare the Bun
Toast the burger bun on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.
