Ladyfingers

Mascarpone Filling

Method

Prepare the Coffee Mixture

  1. 1

    Brew the Coffee

Brew 1 cup of strong coffee and allow it to cool to room temperature.

  2. 2

    Mix Coffee and Liqueur

In a shallow dish, combine the cooled coffee with coffee liqueur (if using).

Make the Mascarpone Filling

  1. 3

    Whisk the Egg Yolks

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 3 egg yolks and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy.

  2. 4

    Add Mascarpone

Gently fold in 1 cup of mascarpone cheese until well combined.

  3. 5

    Whip the Cream

In another mixing bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.

  4. 6

    Combine Mixtures

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.

Assemble the Tiramisu

  1. 7

    Soak the Ladyfingers

Quickly dip 12 ladyfingers into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

  2. 8

    Layer the Ingredients

Arrange the soaked ladyfingers in a single layer at the bottom of a 9x9 inch dish.

  3. 9

    Spread the Filling

Spread half of the mascarpone filling over the ladyfingers, smoothing it out with a spatula.

  4. 10

    Repeat Layers

Dip the remaining ladyfingers in the coffee mixture and layer them on top of the filling. Spread the remaining mascarpone filling on top.

  5. 11

    Chill

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.

Serve the Tiramisu

  1. 12

    Dust with Cocoa

Before serving, dust the top with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and sprinkle dark chocolate shavings if desired.

  2. 13

    Slice and Serve

Slice the tiramisu into squares and serve chilled.
