Preparation

Preparation

1. Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. Prepare Baking Pan

Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with butter or non-stick spray.

Mixing Ingredients

3. Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder until well combined.

4. Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add the sugar and continue to beat until light and fluffy.

5. Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

6. Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

7. Fold in Chocolate Chips and Nuts

Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts if using.

Baking

8. Pour Batter into Pan

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing out the top with a spatula.

9. Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

10. Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and serve.
