Method

Preparing the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal parts and shape each part into a patty about 1 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook Patties

Place the patties on the grill or pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium-rare. Add a slice of cheese on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare Vegetables

While the patties are cooking, wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Slice the tomato into thick rounds.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each burger bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, and a dollop of ketchup and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve

Serve the burgers immediately with your choice of sides, such as fries or a salad.
