Limon Oleo

Cocktail Ingredients

Method

Limon Oleo Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Lemon Zest

Using a vegetable peeler or zester, carefully remove the zest from the lemons, ensuring not to include the bitter white pith.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

In a clean jar, combine the lemon zest and granulated sugar. Muddle the mixture gently to release the oils from the zest.

  3. 3

    Infuse the Vodka

Pour the vodka into the jar with the lemon and sugar mixture. Seal the jar tightly and shake gently. Let it infuse for at least 3 days in a cool, dark place, shaking it once a day.

  4. 4

    Strain the Mixture

After 3 days, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean bottle, discarding the solids.

Cocktail Assembly

  1. 5

    Prepare the Glass

Fill a glass with ice to chill while you prepare the cocktail.

  2. 6

    Mix the Cocktail

In a shaker, combine 2 oz of the limon oleo, 2 oz of elderflower liqueur, and 1 oz of fresh lemon juice. Add the fresh basil leaves and gently muddle to release their flavor.

  3. 7

    Shake and Strain

Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. Strain the mixture into the prepared glass.

  4. 8

    Add Club Soda

Top the cocktail with 4 oz of club soda and gently stir to combine.

  5. 9

    Garnish

Garnish your drink with an additional basil leaf or a lemon wheel if desired.
