Method
Preparation
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it's hot enough for baking the cookies.
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well combined.
Beat Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, beat the softened unsalted butter with the eggs and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
Combining Ingredients
Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
Fold in Add-ins
Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Baking
Scoop Dough
Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each cookie.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. The centers may look slightly underbaked but will firm up as they cool.
Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
