Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Rigatoni

In a large pot of boiling salted water, add the rigatoni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Chicken and Sauce Preparation

  1. 2

    Cook the Chicken Sausage

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chicken sausage and cook until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat and slice into rounds.

  2. 3

    Prepare the Aglio e Olio

In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

  3. 4

    Combine Sauce and Chicken

Pour the pomodoro sauce into the skillet with the garlic and bring to a simmer. Add the sliced chicken sausage and mix well to combine. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 5

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked rigatoni with the chicken and pomodoro sauce mixture. Stir in the fresh basil.

  2. 6

    Transfer to Baking Dish

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Transfer the rigatoni mixture to a greased baking dish. Spread evenly.

  3. 7

    Add Cheese

Sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan cheese evenly on top of the rigatoni.

  4. 8

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve

Remove from oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with additional fresh basil if desired, then serve hot.
