Falafel Ingredients

Method

Falafel Preparation

  1. 1

    Soak Chickpeas

Rinse the dried chickpeas and soak them in water overnight. Ensure they are fully submerged.

  2. 2

    Prepare Falafel Mixture

Drain and rinse the soaked chickpeas. In a food processor, combine chickpeas, parsley, cilantro, garlic, onion, cumin, coriander, baking soda, salt, and black pepper. Pulse until a coarse mixture forms. Transfer to a bowl and mix in flour.

  3. 3

    Shape Falafel

Using your hands, form the mixture into small balls or patties.

  4. 4

    Heat Oil

In a deep pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  5. 5

    Fry Falafel

Fry the falafel in batches, cooking for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve falafel in pita bread with fresh cut fries and your choice of toppings (e.g., tahini sauce, pickles, lettuce).
