Falafel Ingredients
Method
Preparation Steps
- 1
Soak the Beans
Rinse the dried garbanzo beans and soak them in water overnight (or for at least 8 hours). Drain and rinse before using.
- 2
Blend the Mixture
In a food processor, combine the soaked garbanzo beans, onion, garlic, parsley, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Blend until the mixture is coarse but well combined.
- 3
Form the Patties
Using your hands, form the mixture into small balls or patties, about the size of a golf ball. Place them on a tray.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large frying pan, heat the oil over medium heat until hot.
- 5
Fry the Falafel
Carefully add the patties to the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes on each side.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the falafel from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve warm with tahini sauce, pita bread, and salad.
