Fried Chicken Ingredients
Method
Cooking Directions
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk and salt. Add the chicken pieces, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- 2
Prepare the Seasoned Flour
In another bowl, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and salt. Stir well to combine.
- 3
Coat the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and allow excess liquid to drip off. Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour, shaking off the excess.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep skillet or Dutch oven, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully add the chicken pieces to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 12-15 minutes per batch, turning occasionally.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried chicken from the oil and drain on paper towels. Let cool slightly before serving.
