Method

Preparation

1

Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all ingredients and measure them out. If using fresh jalapeños, dice them finely.

Cooking

2

Melt the Cream Cheese

In a medium saucepan over low heat, add the cream cheese. Stir continuously until it begins to melt.

3

Add the Cheeses

Gradually add the sharp cheddar cheese and Monterey Jack cheese to the melted cream cheese, stirring until fully incorporated and melted.

4

Mix in the Milk

Slowly pour in the milk while stirring to achieve a smooth consistency. If the queso is too thick, you can add a little more milk.

5

Incorporate the Spice Mix

Add the diced tomatoes with green chilies, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine all ingredients.

6

Add Jalapeños

If using, add the diced jalapeños to the mixture and stir until evenly distributed.

7

Simmer

Allow the queso to simmer on low heat for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Adjust seasoning if necessary.

Serving

8

Garnish and Serve

Remove the queso from heat. Serve warm, garnished with chopped cilantro and a dollop of sour cream if desired. Enjoy with tortilla chips!
