Method

Preparation of Ice Cream

  1. 1

    Scoop Ice Cream

Scoop the vanilla ice cream into 8 equal balls using an ice cream scoop or your hands. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Freeze Ice Cream

Cover the ice cream balls with plastic wrap and freeze for at least 2 hours, or until very firm.

Breading Mixture Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare Cornflake Mixture

In a large bowl, crush the cornflakes into smaller pieces. Add sugar and cinnamon, and mix until well combined.

Batter Preparation

  1. 4

    Mix Batter Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, eggs, and milk until smooth. The batter should be thick enough to coat the ice cream balls.

Frying

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

  2. 6

    Coat Ice Cream Balls

Take the frozen ice cream balls out of the freezer. Dip each ball in the batter, making sure it's fully coated. Then roll it in the cornflake mixture, pressing gently to adhere.

  3. 7

    Fry Ice Cream

Carefully place each coated ice cream ball into the hot oil, frying 2-3 at a time for about 30-40 seconds or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serving

  1. 8

    Plate and Garnish

Serve the fried ice cream immediately while it's still warm. Drizzle with chocolate sauce, add whipped cream, and top with cherries as desired.
