Michelada Mix
Rimming and Garnish
Beer
Method
Prepare Glass and Mix
Rim the glass
Run one lime wedge around the rim of a large pint glass or beer mug to moisten it. Spread the coarse salt or Tajín on a small plate and press the rim into the salt to coat evenly. Set glass aside.
Make the Michelada mix
In a measuring cup or pitcher, combine the tomato juice (or Clamato), fresh lime juice, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce (or Maggi), hot sauce, black pepper, salt, and optional Tajín. Whisk or stir vigorously until fully blended and seasoning is distributed. Taste and adjust: add more hot sauce for heat, more lime for brightness, or a pinch more salt if muted.
Assemble the Michelada
Tilt the glass and slowly pour 12 ounces (1 bottle/can) of well‑chilled Mexican lager down the side so it mixes gently with the tomato mixture without foaming over. If you prefer a lighter drink, use 8 ounces beer and 4 ounces mix; for a stronger tomato flavor, increase mix slightly.
Give the drink one gentle stir with a bar spoon or lime wedge to combine — avoid vigorous stirring to keep carbonation.
Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim and an optional cucumber or celery stick placed in the drink. Serve immediately while cold.
