Method
Preparation
- 1
Cook the Ground Beef
In a large skillet, over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain any excess fat.
- 2
Add Seasonings
Season the cooked ground beef with salt, pepper, and any other preferred spices (such as taco seasoning) to taste. Stir well and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- 3
Prepare Shredded Chicken
If using pre-cooked shredded chicken, ensure it is heated through. If cooking from raw, cook the chicken breasts in a separate pot or skillet until fully cooked, then shred.
- 4
Heat Black Beans
Open the can of black beans, rinse under cold water, and drain. Heat in a small saucepan over medium heat until warmed through.
Assembly
- 5
Layer the Chips
On a large baking sheet or oven-safe dish, spread a layer of tortilla chips evenly across the bottom.
- 6
Add Toppings
Evenly distribute the cooked ground beef, shredded chicken, and black beans over the chips.
- 7
Add Cheese
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese generously over the top of the layered nachos.
Baking
- 8
Bake the Nachos
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the assembled nachos in the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serving
- 9
Add Final Toppings
Once baked, remove the nachos from the oven and top with sliced jalapeños, sour cream, guacamole, diced tomatoes, and chopped green onions as desired.
- 10
Serve Immediately
Serve the nachos hot, either directly from the baking sheet or in individual serving bowls.
