Method

Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tortillas

Cut each corn tortilla into six triangles to form chips.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Fry the Chips

Carefully add a batch of tortilla triangles to the hot oil, frying them for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  4. 4

    Season the Chips

While the chips are still hot, sprinkle them lightly with salt to taste.

Salsa

  1. 5

    Chop the Vegetables

Dice the tomatoes, onion, and jalapeño pepper (removing seeds for less heat if desired) into small pieces.

  2. 6

    Mix the Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, and chopped cilantro.

  3. 7

    Add Lime Juice and Salt

Pour lime juice over the mixture and sprinkle with salt. Stir well to combine all the flavors.

  4. 8

    Let it Sit

Allow the salsa to sit for at least 15 minutes to let the flavors meld together before serving.
