For the Tiramisu
Method
Preparation of Tiramisu
- 1
Make the Coffee Mixture
In a bowl, combine the espresso coffee with the coffee liqueur (if using). Set aside to cool to room temperature.
- 2
- 3
Whip the Cream
In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.
- 4
Assemble the Tiramisu
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in a rectangular dish.
- 5
Layer the Cream
Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the layer of ladyfingers, smoothing it out evenly.
- 6
Repeat Layers
Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers on top of the cream layer, followed by the remaining mascarpone cream mixture.
- 7
Chill the Tiramisu
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
- 8
Serve the Tiramisu
Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder. Slice and serve chilled.
