Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil the Water

In a kettle or pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, remove from heat and let it sit for about 30 seconds to reach an optimal temperature of around 200°F (93°C).

  2. 2

    Measure the Coffee

While the water is boiling, measure out 0.5 cups of coarse ground coffee beans. It's important to use a coarse grind to prevent clogging the French press filter.

Brewing

  1. 3

    Combine Coffee and Water

In the French press, add the 0.5 cups of coarse ground coffee. Pour the hot water over the coffee grounds, ensuring all grounds are saturated.

  2. 4

    Stir and Steep

Using a wooden or plastic spoon, gently stir the mixture to combine. Place the lid on the French press and let it steep for 4 minutes.

  3. 5

    Press the Plunger

After 4 minutes, slowly press the plunger down to separate the coffee grounds from the brewed coffee. Apply even pressure to avoid splashing.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve the Coffee

Pour the freshly brewed coffee into your favorite mug. If desired, add milk or cream and sweetener to taste. Stir gently and enjoy your French press coffee.
