Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Spaghetti

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  2. 2

    Drain and Set Aside

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.

Bolognese Sauce Preparation

  1. 3

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until softened. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  2. 4

    Brown the Meat

Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the pan. Cook, stirring frequently, until the meat is browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 5

    Add the Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the canned tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.

  4. 6

    Simmer the Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for at least 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. The sauce should thicken and the flavors will meld together.

Serving

  1. 7

    Combine and Serve

Toss the cooked spaghetti with the Bolognese sauce in the skillet. Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
