Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Shrimp

Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. If not already peeled, remove the shells and devein the shrimp.

  2. 2

    Mince the Garlic

Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves.

  3. 3

    Chop the Parsley

Finely chop the fresh parsley and set aside.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Melt the Butter

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

  2. 5

    Add Garlic

Once the butter is melted, add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  3. 6

    Cook the Shrimp

Add the shrimp to the skillet and season with salt, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until they turn pink, then flip them over.

  4. 7

Add Lemon Juice and Optional Wine

Pour in the lemon juice and, if using, the white wine. Cook for an additional 2 minutes until the shrimp are fully cooked and the sauce slightly thickens.

  5. 8

    Finish with Parsley

Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the chopped parsley.

Serving

  1. 9

    Plate and Serve

Serve the shrimp scampi hot, spooning the garlic butter sauce over the top. This dish pairs well with pasta or crusty bread.
