Fried Cheese

Marinara Dipping Sauce

Method

Fried Cheese

  1. 1

    Prepare the cheese sticks

Take the mozzarella cheese sticks and freeze them for at least 30 minutes to prevent melting during frying.

  2. 2

    Set up the breading station

In one shallow bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In a second bowl, beat the eggs. In a third bowl, place the breadcrumbs mixed with salt and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Bread the cheese sticks

Remove the cheese sticks from the freezer. Dip each stick into the flour, coating it evenly, then into the beaten eggs, and finally into the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.

  4. 4

    Heat the oil

In a large pot or deep skillet, heat the cooking oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the cheese sticks

Carefully add the breaded cheese sticks to the hot oil in batches. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Marinara Dipping Sauce

  1. 6

    Cook the sauce

In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 7

    Add tomatoes and seasonings

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and sugar. Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 8

    Finish the sauce

Remove from heat and stir in the chopped fresh basil before serving.
