Cheese Bread

Marinara Dipping Sauce

Method

Cheese Bread

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture along with the olive oil. Mix until a dough begins to form.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Add Cheese and Seasonings

In the last minute of kneading, incorporate the mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, dried oregano, and garlic powder into the dough until evenly distributed.

  5. 5

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  6. 6

    Shape the Bread

After rising, punch down the dough to release air, then shape it into a loaf or divide it into small balls for dinner rolls.

  7. 7

    Second Rise

Place the shaped dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover with a cloth, and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.

  8. 8

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the cheese bread for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.

Marinara Dipping Sauce

  1. 9

    Sauté the Base

In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the crushed tomatoes and stir to combine.

  2. 10

    Season the Sauce

Add the dried basil, dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Mix well and bring to a simmer.

  3. 11

    Simmer

Reduce heat to low and let the marinara sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 12

    Serve

Remove from heat and serve warm alongside the cheese bread.
