Caramelized Onion

Horseradish Mayo

Charbeque Sauce

Cheese and Bread

Method

Beef Patty

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Patty

In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Form into a thick patty, about 1 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Cook the Beef Patty

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the beef patty for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired doneness.

Grilled Mushroom

  1. 3

    Prepare the Mushrooms

Slice the portobello mushrooms into thick pieces.

  2. 4

    Grill the Mushrooms

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and garlic powder. Cook for 5-7 minutes until tender and browned.

Caramelized Onion

  1. 5

    Prepare the Onions

    Slice the large onion thinly.

  2. 6

    Caramelize the Onions

In a skillet, melt the butter over medium-low heat. Add the sliced onion and brown sugar. Cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are deep golden brown.

Horseradish Mayo

  1. 7

    Mix Horseradish Mayo

In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise and prepared horseradish. Mix well and set aside.

Charbeque Sauce

  1. 8

    Prepare Charbeque Sauce

In a bowl, mix BBQ sauce and hot sauce together until well combined. Set aside.

Cheese and Bread

  1. 9

    Prepare the Toast

Butter one side of each slice of Texas toast. Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the toast butter-side down.

  2. 10

    Assemble the Melt

Once the toast is golden, flip the slices and layer your beef patty, grilled mushrooms, caramelized onions, cheese slices, and a drizzle of charbeque sauce on one slice. Top with another slice of toast, grilled side down.

  3. 11

    Grill the Melt

Grill the sandwich on medium heat for 3-4 minutes on each side until the cheese has melted and the toast is golden brown.
