Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

Fill a large pot with water and add salt. Bring to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Cook Spaghetti

Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.

Making Bolognese Sauce

  1. 4

    Heat Oil

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 5

    Sauté Vegetables

Add the finely chopped onion, carrot, and celery to the skillet. Sauté until the vegetables are softened, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 6

    Add Garlic

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

  4. 7

    Brown the Meat

Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned, about 8-10 minutes.

  5. 8

    Add Tomatoes and Wine

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and red wine. Mix well.

  6. 9

    Season the Sauce

Add the dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.

  7. 10

    Simmer

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  8. 11

    Serve

Plate the cooked spaghetti and ladle the Bolognese sauce over the top. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and garnish with fresh basil leaves.
