Ingredients for Soda Base

Ingredients for Bottling

Method

Preparation of Soda Base

  1. 1

    Make the Sugar Syrup

In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of granulated sugar and 4 cups of water. Stir the mixture over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved, creating a simple syrup. This should take about 5 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add Flavoring

Remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in 1 tsp of citric acid and 1 tsp of your chosen natural flavoring into the syrup. If desired, add a drop of food coloring for visual appeal. Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature.

Mixing and Bottling

  1. 3

    Combine with Carbonated Water

Once the syrup has cooled, pour the syrup into a large mixing bowl or pitcher. Gradually stir in 4 cups of carbonated water, mixing gently to avoid losing carbonation.

  2. 4

    Bottle the Soda

Using a funnel, carefully pour the soda mixture into clean glass bottles, leaving about an inch of space at the top. Seal each bottle with a cap, ensuring they are tightly closed.

Chilling and Serving

  1. 5

    Chill and Serve

Refrigerate the bottled soda for at least 2 hours before serving. Serve chilled and enjoy your homemade soda!
