Kansas Roll Ingredients
Method
Kansas Roll Directions
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. In a small saucepan, heat the milk and butter over low heat until warm and the butter is melted. Let it cool slightly, then add to the dry ingredients along with the eggs. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- 2
Knead and Rise
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- 3
Prepare the Filling
In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and cinnamon. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Spread melted butter over the surface and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly.
- 4
Roll and Cut
Starting from one edge, carefully roll the dough into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal slices and place them in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
- 5
Bake the Rolls
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- 6
Make the Icing
In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
