Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Cucumber
Grate the cucumber using a box grater or food processor. Place the grated cucumber in a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth and squeeze out the excess moisture. This step is essential to prevent the tzatziki from becoming watery.
- 2
Mix the Ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, squeezed cucumber, minced garlic (adjust according to taste), olive oil, and fresh dill if using. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- 3
Season the Mixture
Add salt and black pepper to the mixture. Stir well to combine. Adjust the seasoning to your taste, adding more salt or pepper if necessary.
- 4
Chill and Serve
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together. Serve chilled as a dip with pita bread, fresh vegetables, or as a sauce with grilled meats.
