Method

Preparation of Gyros

  1. 1

    Cook the Gyros Meat

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the gyros meat until fully cooked through, about 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking. Once cooked, slice the meat into thin strips.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Pita Bread

While the meat is cooking, warm the pita bread in a separate pan or wrap in foil and place in the oven at low heat for about 5 minutes until soft and pliable.

Preparation of Toppings

  1. 3

    Prepare the Vegetables

Dice the tomatoes and thinly slice the onion. Set aside.

  2. 4

    Cook the Fries

Cook the frozen French fries according to package instructions until crispy (usually about 20 minutes in the oven or 10 minutes in a deep fryer).

Preparation of Tzatziki Sauce

  1. 5

    Mix the Tzatziki

In a bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully combined. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Assemble the Gyros

Take a warmed pita bread and layer with a generous portion of cooked gyros meat, crumbled feta cheese, diced tomatoes, sliced onions, and a handful of crispy fries. Drizzle with tzatziki sauce.

  2. 7

    Wrap and Serve

Fold the pita around the fillings to create a sandwich. Serve with extra tzatziki on the side.
