Hash Brown Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the potatoes and grate them using a box grater or a food processor. Rinse the grated potatoes in cold water to remove excess starch, then drain and squeeze out as much moisture as possible using a clean kitchen towel.

  2. 2

    Chop the Onion

Finely chop the onion and add it to the grated potatoes.

  3. 3

    Season the Mixture

In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, chopped onion, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.

  5. 5

    Cook the Hash Browns

Add the potato mixture to the skillet in an even layer. Press down with a spatula to form a compact cake. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Flip and Finish

Carefully flip the hash brown using a plate or another spatula and add the butter to the skillet. Cook the other side for another 5-7 minutes until golden brown. Remove from skillet and drain excess oil on paper towels.

  7. 7

    Serve

Cut the hash brown into wedges and serve hot as a side dish or breakfast item.
