Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add water while mixing until a dough forms.

  2. 2

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Filling Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare the Filling

In a large bowl, combine ground pork, chopped cabbage, green onions, minced garlic, minced ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Forming Gyoza

  1. 4

    Roll Out the Dough

After the dough has rested, divide it into small pieces (about the size of a golf ball). Roll each piece into a thin circle about 3 inches in diameter.

  2. 5

    Fill the Gyoza

Place about 1 tablespoon of filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over to form a half-moon shape and pinch the edges to seal. Optionally, create pleats along the edge for a decorative touch.

Cooking Gyoza

  1. 6

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet over medium heat, add vegetable oil and heat until shimmering.

  2. 7

    Cook the Gyoza

Place the gyoza in the skillet, flat side down, and cook for about 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown.

  3. 8

    Steam the Gyoza

Carefully add water to the skillet, cover immediately, and let steam for about 5-7 minutes until the water has evaporated and the gyoza are cooked through.

  4. 9

    Serve

Remove the lid and let the gyoza cook for an additional minute to crisp the bottoms. Serve hot with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
