Method
Brownie Batter
Preheat Oven
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
Melt Butter
Melt the unsalted butter in a saucepan over low heat or in the microwave. Allow to cool slightly.
Mix Wet Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Mix until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla extract and whisk until fully incorporated.
Add Dry Ingredients
Sift in the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Fold the mixture together with a spatula until just combined. Do not overmix.
Add Chocolate Chips
Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
Bake Brownies
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Do not overbake.
Cool
Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
Chocolate Sauce
Heat Cream
In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
Add Chocolate and Butter
Remove from heat and add the chopped semi-sweet chocolate and butter. Let sit for 1 minute, then stir until smooth and glossy.

Stir in the vanilla extract. Keep warm until serving.
